Adopt-a-School Program

One important method of supporting FLAME's work is by adopting one of our schools. Our schools provide primary education to 35-45 children living in low income neighborhoods in the outskirts of Karachi , interior Sindh and Islamabad in a very cost-effective method. Due to our savings on infrastructure and rent costs, the basic cost of running one school for one year comes to approximately Rs. 25,000 / £220/$410.44 This is a small price to pay to ensure that these children, the majority of who would otherwise not be in school, are brought back into the educational loop and provided hope for a brighter future.

The adopt a school program allows you to contribute to the running costs of a school. FLAME schools costs vary from area to area, for example in Baldia town alone an allowance of over Rs 157,000/£1386.90/$2,577 per school, per year is allocated due to the water deprivation unique to that locality. An estimate of the costs, developed using the audited accounts for FLAME's 2006 annual expenditure is highlighted below. When you adopt a school the approximate costs of adopting does not include any managerial, events, administrative or water costs.

Teaching Aid and accessories, teachers honorarium, honorarium to co-coordinators including transportation, students aids and accessories come to Rs25,000/£220/$410.44.
