FLAME's
mission is to promote literacy and increase access to basic education
among the poorest children who are unable to attend the formal school
system. These children are those that then fall victim to a host
of social ills because they are growing up on the streets, with
little purpose or direction in their lives.
FLAME
was established in 2001 in Islamabad by Ambassador (Rtd) Mansoor
Alam on the advice of the Literacy Commission of Pakistan who expressed
the need for an organization that would fill the void in the non-formal
education system to help increase literacy in the country. At present,
FLAME has successfully established more then 150 primary non-formal schools
in Karachi , Islamabad and interior Sindh. More
